Club Hours :

Tanner City Fencer’s Club is located at the Higgins Middle School in Peabody. The club is open to fencers Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 p.m.-10 p.m., when school is in session.

Classes:

Beginners are taught on Tuesday nights from 7-8 by coach Jim Carter. Come learn with the best! Intermediate classes are taught by two-time Olympian Molly Sullivan Sliney from 7-8 on Wednesday nights.  Fencing promotes physical fitness, the ability to develop strategy, concentration as well as camaraderie and respect. Classes are free to start. If you find that you want to continue after 2 weeks of lessons, then you are asked to join the club for a nominal fee.

Joining the club entitles you to both nights of fencing (Tuesday-Wednesday, 6-10 pm), use of club equipment, and free private lessons. Tanner City Fencers Club has 7 coaches, led by Master Joe Pechinsky.

In addition, informal instruction is always available from other members.

There is no floor fee, but the nominal yearly membership dues help defray equipment costs.

Membership Dues:

Adult: $70

Junior: $35 (under 14)

Family: $85

Supporting member: $25

Support donations welcome

Also, gloves for beginners are $10 each.

Dress Code:

Long pants: i.e. sweats, jeans or warm-ups, (no shorts!) and sneakers. Tanner City provides equipment and fencing garb, and has electric equipment for those interested in practicing for competitions. For those who would like to buy their own fencing equipment, coaches and parents will help with the ordering process.
